The Bit the Spectrum co-funded by the European Union (proj.no: 2021-1-DE02-KA220-VET-000033091) comes to an end but not the activities to Support the Development of Autonomy and Social-Emotional Skills in Young People with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

On February 26th, 2025, at IRSEI ETS in Palermo, the final event promoting the results of the Bit the Spectrum project took place.

During the final event, in the presence of local associations working with young people with autism spectrum disorder and those with special educational needs, alongside educators, the results of the Bit The Spectrum project were explored together.

The event was an opportunity to officially present the result of the Italian virtual reality exercise “In the Kitchen,” created thanks to the invaluable, free collaboration with Luigi Rotondo of the Coltivare Bio Naturale association, and with the generous technical and logistical support provided free of charge by Moltivolti and its staff: Anna Scudieri, Antonio Cotroneo, Giovanni Zinna, and Roberta Lo Bianco.

The creation of the exercise, the result of local collaboration with expert educators and technicians from the project partner 3Dbear, has led to an exercise that aims to develop independence skills in a professional kitchen setting. It includes roles such as chef’s assistant in preparing a dish and waiter in serving at the table, with an interesting section on hygiene standards to follow, soon available on the project website.

The participants from the local association Minerva, supported by the educators Celeste D’Alcantari and Claudio Iemmolo, had the chance to test the italian VR exercise and were particularly enthusiastic about experiencing the scenario, among laughter and curiosity! The Italian VR exercise ‘In the Kitchen’ is one of the 8 VR exercises developed by the project partnership. In addition, Luigi Rotondo shared online his experience in contributing to the development of the exercise, engaging in conversation with the participants about their involvement and with the educators about the importance of a participatory approach. All project results were made available free of charge to participants and are soon to be available and downloadable from the official project website.

During the event, participants discussed future collaborations and use of VR scenarios to stimulate both mind and body, for an engaging experience!
